The book Steal Like An Artist is crammed with straight forward wisdom. Each time I open this book I find myself having “ah ha” moments. The author Austin Kleon provides friendly reminders on how to unlock your creativity.
My favorite point made in the book is: SCHOOL YOURSELF.
School is one thing. Education is another. Ah ha. Go to library. Google your dreams. Google your problems. We are swimming in an ocean of information yet drowning in ignorance. Yes, I have a college degree yet sooo much of what I’ve learned is from spare time of my OWN research. “School” doesn’t make someone smarter nor better than you. Its a lousy excuse to use not going to school why you don’t know something when resources surround us. Looking things up and going deeper than anyone else is what gets you ahead. Two of my most creative friends, one is a high school dropout and the other never went to college. They constantly challenge me when I come to them about ideas.
i am colorful . i am energized . i am inspired .
I’m versatile when it comes to what I wear. I truly feel most comfortable in street styled clothing. Of course, I got stares of my shirt being half in half out but I am confident whenever I step anywhere past my mailbox. I don’t care if I’m in second-hand goods. Regardless, of the millions I plan to make in the future my love for the thrift shop won’t ever die.
BLONDE MOMENT: The earliest known thrift/”charity” shop was in 1899 selling goods that were made by blind people to raise money. It’s obviously more popular now for different reasons such as, for those who are frugal, environmentalist, or fashionistas like myself on a hunt for one of kind items.
i’m super excited about my friend Brooke’s new online boutique . i woke up bright and early . got my makeup done by the talented MUA Mallory . i got the opportunity to do some of the styling for the other models, and did some modeling myself !. it was tons of fun . you will loveeee her pieces that she’s selected for all you fashionistas .
my fabulous friend Brooke was born and raised in Miami, FL; on 74th Terrace to be exact (the inspiration behind her boutique’s name) . i’ve always known her to love fashion since we were kids . she’s not only stunning but smart (bachelors degree from boston college in finance) she is going to bring some funky fashion for you ladies . don’t hesitate to contact her .

last week ; first week of school . this was the first year in twenty years not “going back to school” . didn’t feel weird . hasn’t completely kicked in that i’m a grown up (well i don’t pay bills just yet) . still as the week approached i felt energized of the thought of school . same ol of being indecisive of what to wear . packed my backpack with my mac, water bottle, notepad, pen, camera, and lipgloss .
i’ve come to find so much inspiration in wynwood miami. the people that create these murals and graffiti on every building . an environment where i can dream big . it was very relaxing . great place to stay focused and creative . street style of everyday people is where most of my inspiration comes from when it comes to fashion .
